Green Building by Asheville Framing & Building
Building a "Green" home is not that hard if you do what you can with the budget you have. There are several details that could be done to your rough framing to maximize your insulation value. These details include: only using headers where actual load will be. This means that on non-load bearing interior and exterior walls, a giant 2x10 header or even a 2x6 header is not always needed. The less header you use, the more insulation you can have, and the more energy efficient your home will be. You can also use "California Corners" on the corners of your home. This is a process where the corners of your home are not built out of solid wood. We turn one of the wood studs sideways and it allows insulation to be installed deeper into the corners.
Of course there are many Consultants, Builders, Electricians, Insulation Companies and other people in the area that can go into vast detail on the things you can do to improve your home and save the world at the same time. Asheville Framing & Building heavily supports these companies, their concepts and the documented proven results that have contributed to the home building and construction industry.
Some "Green" ideas are really costly, but many companies can show you how you will save this money over the next 5-10 years and have all of the benefits for the life of your home. Green Building is a great idea and Asheville Framing looks forward to these new innovative products that help Home Builders all over Asheville improve daily.
